The club's activities are relevant to global issues and undertaken with an emphasis on patient, sustained effort, individual initiative, and total employee participation. The club's activities are supported by the Chikyu Club Fund, to which employees can volunteer part of their monthly pay.

Recognizing the importance of biodiversity, Nipponkoa Insurance set up the first Nipponkoa Forest project in 1998 in Nagano prefecture. The program expanded into Kochi prefecture in 2007, Miyazaki prefecture in 2008, and Chiba prefecture in 2009.

Sompo Japan has collaborated with local governments and NPOs to launch six joint forestation projects nationwide since fiscal 2006. These projects foster affinity for the environment and biodiversity through communication with community, nature and people.

Sompo Japan sees promotion of employee diversity as essential to quality working environments in which employees can feel motivated.

Nipponkoa Insurance's company-wide workforce empowerment program fosters equal opportunity and vibrant workplaces in response to Japan's declining birthrate and other social changes.

We support various cultural activities as a corporate citizen to help forge a sound and prosperous future for society, including by holding seminars at universities nationwide on giving through insurance and risk management.

Our various foundations work to deepen our ties with society in the areas of welfare, art, and the environment.
